Sylph Tops Guide: Layering Pieces for Every Season

Aug 31
2 min read

Tops are the easiest way to shift a Sylph outfit from one season to the next — add a layer for winter, strip back for a summer festival. Here's how our range breaks down.

Cooler-weather layers

The Gossamer Top ($82) is a snuggly jumper in angora wool and cotton — warm, soft, and easy to wear through the cooler months. The Primrose Winter Top ($70) is a cowl-neck top available in a variety of colours, made for a sunny winter day rather than a freezing one. The Vest ($75) is a playful, ruffled-edge layering piece that adds texture over almost anything, and the Autumn Top ($75) is an elegant off-shoulder style with long, bell-shaped sleeves for transitional weather.

Festival and summer statement pieces

The Pixie Hoodie Top ($65) is a funky, backless hoodie with beautiful bohemian tribal styling — built for summer and festivals, and a natural pair with the pieces in our Festival Fashion Guide. The Pixie Halter ($45) has a triple pixie hem and comes in different colour combinations, while the Halter Neck ($45) keeps things simple with an open back. If you want more presence, the Fairy Top ($85) has long bell sleeves with adjustable ties, and the Summer Off Shoulders ($58) is an easy, breezy cotton spandex top for warm days.

Easy everyday basics

Some tops just need to work, every day, with everything else you own. The Singlet ($25) is a classic cotton spandex basic that goes with anything, the Off Shoulders Top ($65) is a long-running Sylph classic with a trumpet-style sleeve, the Primorse Top ($48) is a simple sleeveless cowl-neck with a keyhole back, and the Buttercup Top ($75) is a relaxed off-the-shoulder V-neck tunic you can dress up or down.

Why Sylph tops

We've been designing and making clothes in Australia since 2002, and our tops are where that range shows most clearly — from a cosy angora jumper to a backless festival hoodie, all built to be comfortable, distinctive, and a little bit sensual.
